Home Study Program
Taking a broad view of managed care, the AAMCN home study course: A Comprehensive Introduction to Managed Care Nursing, 5th Edition undertakes familiarizing students with the full spectrum of the managed care industry. From case management to continuous quality improvement, from utilization management to Medicaid managed care products, from HMOs & PPOs to Reimbursement, from provider profiling & accreditation to HIT; the program establishes a background of managed care key topics alongside history, legal and ethical issues, and negotiation skills.
In addition to a Textbook covering these wide ranging topics, the Study Guide contains over seven hours of video presentations that complement each chapter of the Textbook. The Study Guide also includes a glossary of terms and practice questions. Students get access to all of these materials online, and physical copies of the Textbook and Study Guide are available with the highest tier home study package.

Passing the Home Study Course post test earns the student 18 NCPDs. It also qualifies students to sit the Certification in Managed Care Examination administered by the ABMCN. This purchase includes one year of complimentary membership to AAMCN. This can be a new or renewing membership (one year of membership will be added to your expiration date).
If you prefer to have physical books, you can do the physical books add on. These contain all of the same content but give the students physical copies for notetaking, etc.
Access to the online program is handled manually. You will receive login information within three days of purchase.
Note: If you are on the fence about If the home study is right for you, we strongly encourage you to purchase the online-only home study program which has a much easier return process. Then, if you'd like to add the physical books to your program, you may do so.
You will receive a welcome email with your membership number within two weeks of purchase. Please note that there is no members-only portal/login on our website. Continuing Education
Once you order your home study program, you will have 6 months to complete and return the post-test (open book, unproctored, and untimed), which will earn you 18 NCPD's (CEUs) with a passing grade of 70% or better.
The American Association of Managed Care Nurses is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

The home study program purchase includes one year of complimentary membership to AAMCN. This can be a new or renewing membership (one year of membership will be added to your expiration date). In addition to continuing education, completing the home study program also qualifies students to sit the Certification in Managed Care Examination.
Students may purchase the online-only version which includes all of the Textbook and Study Guide content, bestows one year of complimentary AAMCN membership, awards the continuing education (NCPDs), and qualifies students to sit the CMCN/CMCP exam. Alternatively, students may purchase the highest tier home study program which includes everything in the online-only version in addition to physical copies of the Textbook and Study Guide.
The Textbook is also available for purchase separate from the home study program. The Textbook does not confer any NCPDs and does not act as a qualifier for sitting the CMCN/CMCP exam. The Study Guide is not available for individual purchase.
